Top Ten Free Baby Shower Games
1. Baby shower bingo
- Hand a blank bingo card to each guest. Make sure you have prepared as many cards as the number of guests present. This you can do well in advance while preparing the list of invitees.
- Now, tell the guests to fill in the blank squares with baby itemsthey think the mom-to-be will get as the Baby Shower Games gifts, e.g. bottles, baby food, diapers, crib, baby soap, wipes, pacifiers, rattles etc. Also tell them to write their names on the back of the board.
- Ask the mom-to-be to call out the names of the items as she opens the gift boxes.
- Now, if the item is on the card, tell the guest to mark off the item.
- When any guest gets a line completed in any direction, he would shout out “bingo”.
- Continue playing till the mom-to-be finishes unwrapping.
- There can be multiple winners of this Baby Game. Otherwise announce the winner who has got the highest numbers of correct guesses/words on his bingo card.
2. Suggest baby names
- Write different names for the baby on small pieces of papers and fold them carefully so that the writings are not visible.
- Remember, one of such papers should have the chosen baby name on it.
- Put back the folded papers in a fish bowl and shuffle several times. Make sure the papers mix well.
- Now start playing music as you pass on the fish bowls to each guest.
- Each guest has to pick up a paper. When all papers are distributed, stop the music and tell them to open the paper and read out the name written on it.
- The person who reads out the chosen name is the winner.
3. Baby hang-man
- Let all the guests sit in a circle or around a table.
- Choose the first person who will start playing the Baby Game.
- Each player has to say a word that relates to babies. Let the first person say “diaper”. Now move on clockwise. The second person repeats diaper and then and includes a new word (say, rattle). The third person repeats the first two words and then adds the third item (say crib). sAnd so on.
- The players need to follow the sequence strictly. If anyone forgets an item or mix up the order, then he is disqualified.
- This is a memory Baby Game and needs concentration.
- Also ensure that you have a small group of invitees for playing this game.
4. What’s in the baby bag?
- Collect 10 to 15 small ‘baby’ items like bib, rattle, pacifier, socks, comb, soap, cotton balls, etc.
- Place all articles on a tray.
- Let all guests sit in rows. Walk around in front of each guest with the tray and give them 2-3 minutes to see all articles.
- Now go back to your table and put all the items in a baby bag.
- Start playing music. Hand pens and papers to the players and ask them to write down the items that they remember.
- Give them 5-6 minutes to write and then stop the music.
- Now start unpacking the baby bag. Take out the articles one by one and tell the players to tick off the right guess.
- Well, the player with the highest numbers of correct entries wins!
5 . Baby word scrambles
- Take large print-outs of word-scrambles and paste them on hard boards
- Write down scrambled words relating to baby, Pregnancy and labor-related topics on the left side of the paper. On the right side, make big squares like crossword puzzles with color pens and leave the squares blank.
- Divide the invitees into 3-4 smaller groups and distribute one board to each team.
- Now ask each team to unscramble the words and write down the right word inside the given squares.
- Fix a time limit depending on the number of words.
- Once the time is up, visit each team to find out the winner i.e the team who has completed the board first and with maximum correct words.
- This Baby Game is a very good icebreaker and challenging too.
- Even kids would love to participate in this game.
6. Cotton ball transfer
- Place a medium-sized bowl full of colored cotton balls on the table. Keep another bowl of same size next to it and a big spoon.
- You can keep cotton balls of two different colors, say pink and white.
- Now have a guest one at a time, blindfold him and ask him to transfer either pink or white colored balls to the other bowl with a spoon.
- Give each player 1 full minute. As the clock stops at the end of one minute, count the balls in the second bowl.
- The person who has transferred the maximum number of Cotton Balls with the said color is the winner.
- To make this Baby Game a bit difficult but more enjoyable you can ask the player to take out the cotton balls with the tip of nose. For this, give him a cream that he can apply on the tip of his nose. Then placing both the hands behind, he has to dig into the bowl to find a cotton ball (pray that a cotton ball gets stuck on his nose!!) and then take it out and place it in the second bowl.
- Well, it’s definitely challenging and needs a good deal of patience. And of course, its fun watching someone playing with the cotton balls!
7. Guess how many
- Fill 3/4 th of a small bowl with dry rice or grains.
- Add small safety pins and mix them well.
- Blindfold each guest and give them the chance to remove as many safety pins as possible in one minute.
- The guest who finds the most pins wins the Baby Game.
8. How big is mom’s belly?
- You need colorful ribbons and scissors to play this game.
- Hand the ribbons to each player and ask them to guess the size of the belly bulge of the mom-to-be.
- Cut the ribbon according to the length you have guessed.
- The closest guess wins the game.
9. Taste the food
- Pour 4-5 types of baby foods in small bowls and place them on the table.
- Assign respective numbers to each bowl.
- Now ask each guest to taste a little portion of food from each bowl and then write down how the food tastes.
- They should write down the tastes against the corresponding numbers.
- The guest who has the correct guesses wins.
- Instead of baby food you can also use flavored candies and ask the guest to guess the flavors.
10. Change the diaper fast
- You need plenty of paper towels or diapers and a baby doll to play this Baby Game.
- First, put the diapers in a box and keep them on a separate table. Place the baby doll on another table, some steps away from the first table.
- Now make a group of two baby players. You can select a real life couple as a team.
- Blindfold one player and then hide the doll somewhere near the tables. The second player will then direct the blindfolded player to find the hidden doll.
- Once the first player finds the doll, he will take out a diaper from the box and try to put it on the baby doll while blindfolded.
- Give at least 3-5 minutes to each team to finish the job.
- The team who takes least time to do the fastest and best diapering job wins a prize.
