Use the Fertility Predictor to find out when your ovulation date is. and increase the likelihood of getting pregnant. The Fertility Predictor shows your fertile days - keep in mind that you are most fertile on your ovulation date.
How to use the Fertility Predictor
On average, there are 28 days in a menstrual cycle - it can last from as little as 22 to as many as 44 days. The Fertility Predictor gives you the approximate ovulation date, but if your cycle is irregular the results may be less accurate.
Ovulation is a very important phase of a woman's menstrual cycle. Unless it takes place in a woman, there is no chance of her getting pregnant. In modern; jet set life with complexities, women are finding it difficult to get pregnant in the normal way and they require assisted reproductive techniques (ART). If ovulation is normal and its approximate date is known then she can plan her pregnancy and can be successful in conceiving normally.
The ovulation process is controlled by a part of the brain called hypothalamus. LH (Lutenizing Hormone) is secreted by the pituitary gland in the anterior lobe of the brain. Pituitary glands secrete the Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH). All these hormones are required for ovulation. Follicles of ovary go through many transformations which are controlled by the FSH. Once the transformations are over a void develops in the follicle which is called stigma. The eggs are released through this void. Generally only one of the ovaries releases the ovum in a cycle. There may be more than one released egg but the ripest egg go into the fallopian tube for fertilization. The ovaries produce around 10-15 mature eggs every month.
The ovulation process gains importance for couples eager to conceive. Trying to conceive within two days of ovulation would increase the chances of getting pregnant. Hence calculating the date of ovulation can be helpful. This fact is used in IVF processes and artificial fertilizations. The ovum is removed just before being released and artificially fertilized. Here the calculation of the ovulation date is very important. The contraception principle is also based on this process. The ovulation process is neither allowed to occur nor is the eggs released. Thus stopping conception by non availability of egg. Thus the ovulation process is the crux of conception and contraception.
