Pregnancy Week 10


By the 10 th week of pregnancy the crown to rump length of your baby is about 1.25 to 1.68 inches and weighs about 5-8 gm. Your baby is the size of small plum now. From this Week 10 your baby will start to put on weight. This is the end of embryonic period, and from this time the fetus will begin to develop in full swing.

During the embryonic period, the embryo was most susceptible to different aspects that could interfere with its development. Congenital malformation risks were more before the end of the Pregnancy Week 10 and now it’s unlikely to develop any. The baby now more looks like a human. All the major organs are now almost formed and the remaining organs are developing.

During this Pregnancy Week 10, the external genitalia of your baby will also start to take shape and the respected sex hormone will start to produce. The growth of brain is very rapid this week as thousands of new neurons are produced every minute. Your baby's irises will start to develop in this Pregnancy Week 10 and finger nails will appear. The separation of fingers and toes takes place and the tooth buds start to form now.

This week your doctor will ask you for few blood tests to find out whether you are immunized against varicella, miseals, mumps, rubella and your Rh factor. Nourishing your baby completely requires that you gain weight.
