Pregnancy Week 36

After 35 weeks into pregnancy and enjoying every bit of it, you are now in the Week 36 of your pregnancy. You have observed and would continue to experience several physical changes as your young one grows and occupies more space within you. Your uterus and abdomen has stretched several times its actual size to accommodate your young one.

About the Mother

You would continue to experience fatigue with a little exertion and may face trouble having a sound sleep. You may have to visit the bathroom more often as the growing baby exerts more pressure in the lower abdominal area. You may also find it difficult to have a complete meal as your growing baby occupies more space within you in Pregnancy Week 36. It would be best to have more number of small meals. You may observe that the heartburn you probably experienced earlier has reduced. Your breathing would also be more comfortable now as the baby has begun to descend into the pelvic area. Continue with your exercises especially your breathing exercises.

This is the best time for you to catch up on your reading, and mentally preparing yourself for the weeks to come. You can also start making preparations at home for the arrival of your young one in this Pregnancy week. You are going to be on your toes all the time after the arrival of your baby so it’s best to get all the work that you had planned done (like getting the crib ready) before he or she arrives. About the Baby

Your baby is now approximately 6.5 pounds in weight and gaining weight steadily and is about 20 inches in length (from head to toe). The bones of your baby are now all hardened and fully developed during this Pregnancy Week 36. The genital development is also complete. Your baby is now preparing to make an entry into this beautiful world in a few weeks. From 37 weeks to 42 weeks of Pregnancy the baby is considered full term and in case you have to deliver now due to any unavoidable reasons there shouldn’t be any problem to your young one in the normal course.

The baby would have taken the head down position by now, if not, do not worry there can be changes at any point of time. Your practitioner may suggest “external cephalic version”. This means turning the baby from the outside manually so as to get the position right for delivery.

You have to start making visits to your practitioner every week. It would be advisable to keep your practitioner informed about any new observations or changes. In case you observe any reduced activity of your baby, bleeding or leaking of the amniotic fluid do inform your practitioner immediately. In Pregnancy Week 36 make enquiries with your practitioner regarding when you are required to come in for delivery. Your practitioner would most likely want you to come in for delivery only when you start experiencing contractions that last for atleast a minute in this Week 36. Keep a positive attitude and enjoy every moment of the best phase of your life.
